What is essential in Master Data Analysis for a Successful Ad Hoc HU Movement?
Having an efficient system in place is extremely important, especially when it comes to warehouse management. One crucial aspect of this is having a process for Adhoc HU Movement, where goods are moved from one location to another. To have this process run smoothly, the system must be able to automatically determine the destination bin.
Recently, our consultant had a task to configure this requirement for a client's system. They completed the configuration and successfully tested it in the development system before moving the changes to the quality system for business users to conduct user acceptance testing (UAT).
One of the client's superusers compleated UAT, but later on, another user encountered an issue. This user reported that they could not see the storage type, section, or bin while testing.
The issue was escalated to the consultant, who quickly began analyzing the problem. He soon discovered that the user had created their data for testing purposes but had forgotten to create a new empty bin for the newly created product. The consultant reviewed the put-away rule 2 and suggested that the system will automatically look for an empty bin for the new product. They created an empty bin and facilitated the testing, which was subsequently completed successfully.
What did we learn from it?
It's not always a question of configuration issues. Sometimes, it's crucial to analyze master data in the first place to identify and resolve problems. Such a process can save many hours of troubleshooting and effort that might otherwise be necessary.
